Position: Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer
Location: Remote (Phoenix, AZ preferred)
Time Zone: Must be available during EST hours

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to build and scale high-impact, API-driven applications in a modern, cloud-native environment. You'll work on complex backend logic, performance tuning, and data-driven features powering a fast-growing health-tech platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced Rails APIs with a focus on scalability and performance.

• Apply deep knowledge of Rails internals-ActiveRecord optimization, service objects, background jobs, caching strategies, concerns, and metaprogramming.

• Architect efficient data models and queries using PostgreSQL.

• Work effectively within a containerized AWS environment (ECS/EKS, Docker awareness).

• Collaborate with front-end teams leveraging React for API integrations.

• Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and overall system design.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Ruby on Rails experience with strong API design skills.

• Expert-level understanding of Rails framework internals, including ActiveSupport, middleware, and background processing (Sidekiq/Resque).

• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and database performance tuning.

• Familiarity with AWS services (S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.).

• Exposure to containerized/Kubernetes environments.

• Working knowledge of React is a plus.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in EST hours.
